On World Earth Day a number of our pupils volunteered for a litter-picking activity!
This week, a small group of learners volunteered to go litter-picking after a discussion about Earth Day and how we can all get involved with taking care of the environment.
The learners were upset to see how much litter had been dropped in the area around their school, and happily put on gloves and started picking up plastic wrappers, cans and plastic bottles. After walking along one section of path, they had managed to fill an entire bin bag. Despite feeling disgusted at the amount of litter found, they were extremely proud of themselves...and rightly so.
The learners have asked to make this a regular activity and said they feel a sense of responsibility for their school environment and the surrounding area.
