Riverside Meadow Academy

All the Staff and Students at Riverside Meadows Academy were delighted to enjoy lunch and snacks from our new Kitchen & meals service with Edwards & Blake Caterers.

Riverside Meadows is currently undergoing a major revamp of its therapeutic offering for our students and our partnership with Dream Drops and St Neots Rotary Club couldn't have come at a better time.  We are truly grateful for their offers of support for our sensory room, and we are looking forward to helping raise money together and to working with them again on several other environmental projects around school.

"The sensory room at Riverside Meadows St Neots is a safe space where students who have become heightened, due to their social, emotional and mental health needs, can go and be supervised whilst they calm down using a range of techniques and equipment. 

We know that from other schools that being able to control the lighting and sounds that a student is exposed to can help to reduce the time a child is in a crisis, and allows them to return to the classroom quicker, so learning is not lost. 

The space is also used to teach children about different mindfulness techniques so that they can self-regulate in school, at home, or when they are out in the community, and therefore prepares them for life beyond the school gates. 

The support of charities like Dream Drops and the Rotary Club of St Neots and St Marys by way of donation, allows us to allocate further funding towards the curriculum and therapeutic offer, in the pursuit of providing ever-increasing engagement and opportunity for students.

Remembrance At St Neots 

Kellogg's has awarded Riverside Meadows in Cambridgeshire £1,000 to enhance its breakfast club and to help feed children in the morning. 

Riverside Meadows was selected to receive this boost as Kellogg's announced it is donating more money to support breakfast clubs than ever before as more and more schools struggle to find the budget to help fund this service for their pupils. 

Breakfast clubs help with everything from attendance and attainment to alleviating huger and providing pre-school care. 68% of teachers believe pupils would struggle to concentrate in class without their breakfast club, according to Kellogg's research. 

Andrew Armstrong, Co Head Teacher of St Neots said: "We are so grateful to receive this generous donation. Kellogg's have enabled us to continue to support the morning transition of all our young people, and they have ensured that they have a good start to every day. 

These resources will help us to continue to provide our breakfast club services for our children and their families thanks to the support from Kellogg's." 

Kate Prince, corporate social responsibility manager at Kellogg's, said "We're proud to have spent over 20 years supporting so many schools across the UK. We believe all children should have the opportunity to start the day with breakfast, and we know that equipment and resources are just as important to clubs as the food itself." 

Kellogg's has supported 4,000 school breakfast clubs with funds, food and training over the last 23 years 0 that's 70 million bowls of cereal to children all over the UK since 1998.
